As the Mission Readiness Shift Lead on Zoox’s Mission Readiness team, you will be responsible for the readiness of all vehicle assets that are based in your geosite office during your scheduled shift. This includes, but is not limited to, deploying the correct software and firmware to the right vehicles at the right time, conducting pre-mission checks, and ensuring that the shop facility is in a ready state to support operations. Additionally, you will assist the Team Lead for your location in accurate data tracking toward team KPIs.


  • Serve as a coach and mentor to contract staff at your location.
  • Engagement in the recruiting and hiring process for workshop personnel.
  • Provide new-hire onboarding, training, and communicating expectations. 
  • Assist in the creation and management of contract employee schedules, including time-off. 
  • Support the analysis, documentation, and reporting of data.
  • Provide logistical support for the movement and storage of vehicles and equipment.
  • Manually drive L3 and auxiliary vehicles when needed. 
  • Assist with paperwork and documentation related to vehicle readiness.
  • Manage workflow by allocating resources based on skill sets and ensure the job is done to internal quality standards.
  • Enforcing all health and safety policies in the workshop.
  • Support the readiness of spare parts and the associated inventory.
  • Ensure the workshop area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous and/or hazardous material, in accordance with company and OSHA guidelines.
  • Be an advocate for constant, never-ending improvement.
  • Provide supervision to external contractors during the shift.
  • Deploying the correct software and firmware to the right vehicles at the right time.
  • Direct ingest of all L3 vehicles.
  • Assist in completion of checklists for the first shift.


  • 2+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn technical subjects.
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally (less than 20%).
  • Clean driving record. 
  • Ability to manage time and priorities effectively in a fast-paced and often ambiguous startup environment.
  • Team player that collaborates well cross-functionally.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must be honest, responsible, and an outstanding communicator.

Preferred Qualificiations

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field.
  • Experience in a fast-paced service environment. 
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma.
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $88,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.

Vaccine Mandate
Employees working in this position will be required to have received a single dose of the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine OR have completed the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series. In addition, employees will be required to receive a COVID-19 booster vaccine within two months of becoming eligible for the booster vaccine.
