The Robot Dynamics team at Zoox is responsible for the vehicle dynamics performance of our robot. We define performance requirements and work closely with the hardware and software development teams to achieve them. Our team has a diverse set of backgrounds, including vehicle engineering, software development, and robotics. You will be part of a team that is deeply cross-functional and passionate about advancing the safety and comfort of our autonomous robots.

In this role, you will develop our vehicle dynamics simulator to accelerate vehicle and driving software development. You will work cross-functionally to develop physical and data-driven vehicle models to accurately simulate our robot's vehicle dynamics behavior in complex and dynamic maneuvers. In addition, you will develop tools to assess vehicle dynamics performance and explore new frameworks for assessing performance in the absence of a driver.


  • You will develop models (physical and empirical) to improve the realism of vehicle dynamics simulations
  • You will develop an approach to correlate vehicle models at scale
  • You will identify key realism gaps and drive improvements in the simulator
  • You will develop tools to analyze, correlate and support vehicle dynamics testing


  • Masters degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Experience in multi-body simulation, numerical methods, dynamic optimization, and parameter inference
  • Experience in prototyping and data analysis programming languages (MATLAB, Python)
  • Proficiency in C++
  • Proficiency in Vehicle Dynamics


  • There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $151,000 to $250,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.

Vaccine Mandate
